Borno State Government Celebrates El-Kanemi Warriors FC's Historic Federation Cup Win with N35.2 Million Support



El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club has been awarded N35.2 million by the Borno State Government in recognition of their historic victory in the 2024 President Federation Cup. This monumental achievement came after the team secured a 2-0 win against Abia Warriors in the final, ending a 32-year wait for the prestigious trophy to return to Borno.

The financial support was formally presented by Bukar Tijjani, the Secretary to the State Government, on behalf of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, during a ceremony at the SSG’s office. In addition to the substantial cash award, each player received a personal stipend of N1 million, acknowledging their hard work and dedication throughout the tournament.



El-Kanemi Warriors also benefitted from a N50 million cash prize for their Federation Cup success. Hon. Sainna Buba, the Commissioner of Sports, conveyed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Zulum for his financial backing. Buba also recommended Babagana Kalli for the role of Special Adviser on Sports, citing Kalli's extensive experience and potential contributions to the state's sports development.

Technical Adviser Coach Aliyu Zubairu commended the state government for its unwavering support for sports in Borno. He emphasized the importance of timely financial releases to ensure the team's smooth travel and participation in matches across the country.

This significant gesture from the Borno State Government underscores their commitment to fostering and advancing sports within the state. The historic triumph of El-Kanemi Warriors not only brings immense pride but also sets a new benchmark for future achievements.
