Enugu Rangers Gear Up for CAF Champions League Triumph Against Comoros’ Zilimadjou

Enugu Rangers, Nigeria’s reigning champions, are poised to secure a spot in the second round of the CAF Champions League with a decisive performance in their upcoming clash against U.S de Zilimadjou from the Comoros Islands. The pivotal second leg of their encounter is scheduled for this Friday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, where Rangers will look to build on their slender 1-0 advantage from the first leg.

Captain Ugwueze Chinemerem has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to advance to the next stage of the competition. According to Chinemerem, the team has been diligently preparing since their narrow victory in the first leg, which took place at the same stadium last Sunday. The preparation has been intensified to ensure that the squad is in peak condition for the crucial fixture.

Chinemerem emphasized that despite their first-leg success, Enugu Rangers are not underestimating their opponents. Instead, the team is approaching the second leg with heightened focus and determination. “Since the end of the first leg, we have shifted our preparation gear to the next level,” Chinemerem stated. “I believe this will see us through the second leg. We are more focused and determined to play a good game and win well for our fans and supporters.”

Similarly, Uwumiro Frank, who scored the decisive goal in the first leg, is optimistic about their prospects in the upcoming match. Frank acknowledged the challenges posed by Zilimadjou, noting that while the first leg was tough, the team is now better prepared. He highlighted the strength of their opponents, who are the champions of their home country. Despite this, Frank is confident that Rangers will handle the second leg effectively.

“Our opponents showed some strengths in the first leg, but we have been working hard since then,” Frank remarked. “I am very optimistic about our chances in the second leg, especially since we are hosting the match.”

The Comoros-based team has agreed to play both legs of the tie in Nigeria due to the lack of an approved home ground. This arrangement has given Enugu Rangers a notable advantage, allowing them to leverage their home ground's familiar conditions and supportive fans.

As the match approaches, both Chinemerem and Uwumiro are united in their belief that Enugu Rangers will advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League, bolstered by their rigorous preparation and unwavering determination. With the support of their fans and the confidence instilled by their recent performance, Rangers are set to capitalize on their first-leg advantage and secure their place in the next stage of the prestigious competition.
