The stage is set for the zonal play-offs into the NLO Division Two (U-19 Youth League), which will take place from Sunday, September 15th to 22nd. The competition, organized by the Nationwide League One (NLO), will see teams from across Nigeria's six geo-political zones battling for promotion to Division Two. The play-offs will be hosted in eight states: Ekiti, Oyo, Plateau, Zamfara, Taraba, Katsina, Enugu, and Delta, offering an opportunity for youth teams to showcase their talents and earn a place in the higher division.
To ensure a fair and competitive tournament, strict participation conditions have been set by the NLO. Each state will present both the winners and runners-up of their 2024 State League to compete in the play-offs. Only state club players who possess valid NLO 2024 players' licenses will be eligible to participate. Additionally, only states that have completed their state league competitions are permitted to send their teams to the zonal play-offs. The NLO Secretariat has also mandated that all players' licenses must be processed through its office to ensure uniformity and compliance with the league's regulations.
Participating clubs are required to pay a participation fee of N150,000 at the venue to cover administrative and organizational costs. Fixtures for the play-offs will be drawn up only after all the stipulated conditions have been met. The winner from each of the eight venues will earn promotion to the NLO Division Two, creating a highly competitive environment where young players have the chance to advance their football careers. This play-off is a critical opportunity for youth teams across Nigeria to gain exposure and take a step closer to professional football.
