Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in their opening match of the ongoing WAFU B U20 Championship. Despite a spirited effort, the Nigerian boys were unable to find the back of the net, with Burkina Faso securing the win through a 67th-minute goal from Etoile Filante midfielder, Dramane Coulibaly.
The match was closely contested, with both teams creating chances but failing to capitalize in the first half. As the game progressed, Burkina Faso gained momentum, and Coulibaly's decisive strike put them ahead. Nigeria tried to mount a comeback but couldn't break through the resolute defense of the Burkinabe side.
Although it’s a disappointing start for Nigeria, the U20 boys remain determined to bounce back in their upcoming matches. There is still hope for redemption as they continue their campaign in the WAFU B U20 ACON Qualifiers, with the team focused on improving their performance.
