Rangers International’s Chief Coach, Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu, has described his team as a work in progress despite their impressive 3-0 victory over Lobi Stars in a Matchday 14 fixture of the 2024/2025 NPFL season. The reigning NPFL champions secured a comfortable win at home with goals from Frank Uwumiro, Kenneth Igboke, and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi in the first half, extending their unbeaten run to seven matches. The dominant performance saw Rangers climb to 3rd position on the league table, just three points behind the leaders, Remo Stars and Rivers United, who are both on 26 points.
Following the victory, Ekenedilichukwu expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance but emphasized that there is still room for improvement. "It was a great game which produced some fine goals, and we were unlucky not to have scored more against a quality side that came out stronger in the second half," he said. The coach also praised his players for adhering to tactical instructions, highlighting their discipline and effort throughout the match.
Despite the dominant display, Ekenedilichukwu made it clear that the team must continue working on areas that need improvement. "We shall keep working on the grey areas in the team as we are still a work in progress," he stated. The coach’s remarks reflect his determination to ensure Rangers reach their full potential as they aim to defend their NPFL title this season.
One of the goal-scorers, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, also shared his thoughts on the match. "It was a great game against a difficult side, but we were determined to get the result," said Onyebuchi. The striker, who netted one of the goals in the victory, expressed his happiness with his performance and his aspirations for the rest of the season. "I am really happy about my goal and hope to score more and help the team achieve our collective goals for the season."
Looking ahead, Rangers will focus on refining their play to ensure they remain competitive at the top of the NPFL table. With key players stepping up and a solid unbeaten streak, the team’s determination to improve will be crucial as they push forward in the race for the title.
