The Akwa Ibom State Football Association has expressed full support for Ibom Angels as they begin their 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season today against Rivers Angels in Port Harcourt.
In a statement, the association's Chairman, Samuel Umoh, praised the team's hard work during pre-season and urged them to bring their resilience into the league opener. "This season is a fresh start for Ibom Angels. The team has shown great determination and discipline. As you face Rivers Angels, maintain that spirit," he encouraged.
Umoh emphasized the importance of the match as a representation of the state's pride, assuring the team of unwavering support from fans across Akwa Ibom.
Ibom Angels, led by seasoned coach Edwin Okon, face a formidable challenge against Rivers Angels, last season's Super Six runners-up. The South-South derby kicks off at 4 pm at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
