As Enyimba FC prepares for their crucial continental Matchday 5 fixture against Egyptian side Al Masry in Uyo, Sporting Director Ifeanyi Ekwueme has dismissed recent claims from the visiting team, branding them "noisemakers trying to play mind games."
Ekwueme criticized Al Masry's conduct, accusing them of unprofessional behavior by attempting to manipulate logistics and CAF regulations. "They were hiding their trip from us. They booked local tickets without involving our management but sent us invoices for refunds. Imagine their tricks," he said.
The Sporting Director further highlighted disparities in hospitality between the two clubs during their respective visits. "In Egypt, we had to pay for our training pitch and had limited access to the stadium. Now they want to train on the Uyo pitch for two days before the match, which is against CAF rules," he noted.
Despite these grievances, Ekwueme stressed Enyimba’s commitment to maintaining focus. "We have always treated visiting teams well. We won’t be distracted by their antics. Our goal is to speak on the pitch, win the match, and secure the vital three points by God’s grace."
The highly anticipated fixture promises to be a pivotal clash as both sides seek continental success.
