Chief Executive Officer of Ijele Sports Club, Ferdinand A. Naza, has issued a heartfelt end-of-season message following the club’s relegation from the Nigerian National League (NNL) to the Nationwide League One (NLO 1).
In a detailed statement released on 29th June 2025, Naza described the team’s maiden campaign in the NNL as a season of “learning, growth, and gratitude,” acknowledging both the difficulties faced and the resilience shown by the players and staff.
While the club's debut season ended in relegation, Naza highlighted key positives, including a memorable 2-0 win over former champions Beyond Limit FC. He praised the team's fighting spirit and pointed to logistical issues, officiating inconsistencies, and structural league challenges as part of the hurdles endured throughout the season.
“To our coaches and technical staff, I salute your unyielding dedication,” he said. “To our players, thank you for your passion and professionalism. You wore our colours with pride.”
Naza extended appreciation to sponsors, partners, and fans, crediting them for their unwavering support at home and away. He stressed that the club would return stronger, with a clear focus on restructuring and bouncing back better prepared.
"Ijele will be back. Stronger. Better. Wiser," he affirmed.
Founded in Enugu, Ijele Sports Club made their professional debut this season and quickly earned recognition for their passionate fanbase and ambitious vision. Despite the setback, the CEO’s message signals the club's determination to rise again.
