Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has rewarded Nigeria’s Super Falcons with ₦20 million following their 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly match held in Abeokuta.
The Cameroonian side also received ₦10 million from the Governor as a token of appreciation for participating in the match, which served as part of both teams’ preparations for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade scored both goals in the encounter, sealing a confident win for Nigeria.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for the financial support, noting that the gesture would boost morale within the squad ahead of their continental campaign.
Nigeria, nine-time African champions, will begin their WAFCON journey in Group B, with their opening match scheduled against Tunisia on July 6.
