Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has reaffirmed Nigeria’s ambition to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, pledging his unwavering commitment to the national team’s cause.
Reflecting on his international journey in a recent interview, the experienced centre-back described playing for Nigeria as one of the greatest honours of his life. He acknowledged the team’s recent setbacks but expressed strong optimism about what lies ahead.
“We’ve had highs and lows, but the dream is still alive,” Troost-Ekong stated. “We’re going for the AFCON title, and we want to be back at the World Cup. The journey continues, and we are fully committed.”
The Al-Kholood defender, a key figure in Nigeria’s recent AFCON and World Cup campaigns, believes the current Super Eagles squad possesses the talent and determination to reach new heights.
