Sokoto United Football Club have announced their list of retained players ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. The announcement was made by the General Manager, Alhaji Umar Mohammed Maraya, who emphasised discipline, commitment, and continuity as the foundation for the new campaign.
Maraya stated: “This new season is very important for Sokoto United. We have carefully reviewed the squad and taken the decision to retain players we believe can deliver for the club. All retained players must resume on or before Monday, 25th August 2025, as training will begin immediately. Any player who fails to resume as directed will face penalties.”
He also extended gratitude to players not retained, appreciating their contributions and wishing them success in their careers, while confirming that they are free to request their clearance from the club office.
In his message to the retained squad, Maraya added:
“Those retained must show full commitment to the club’s goals. This is a new season, and together we must work hard to make our supporters proud. I wish all our players safe travels back to Sokoto ahead of resumption.”
