NPFL Matchday 3: Shooting Stars Held to Draw by Ikorodu City

Shooting Stars were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Ikorodu City in a fiercely contested NPFL Matchday 3 clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.

The Oluyole Warriors started brightly and took the lead in the 9th minute when Sodiq Ibrahim finished calmly after a well-worked move. The hosts dominated much of the first half, creating chances and testing the visitors’ defence, but Ikorodu City remained resilient.

Their persistence was rewarded in the 44th minute as Shola Adelani equalised, ensuring both teams went into the break level.

The second half saw tactical changes, with Qamar Adegoke and Adebayo Abayomi introduced for Shooting Stars. Ikorodu City also threatened, but goalkeeper Mustapha Lawal, making his first home appearance of the season, produced a vital save in the 52nd minute to deny a powerful header.

Shooting Stars pressed for a winner, with Ayobami Junior going close, but his effort went narrowly wide. The game also had moments of discipline, with yellow cards shown to an Ikorodu City defender for a foul on Ismail Ayodele and to 3SC captain Gali Falke.

Despite late pressure from the hosts, the scoreline remained unchanged. The result leaves Shooting Stars with two draws and one defeat from their opening three fixtures of the 2025/26 NPFL season as they continue their search for a first win.
