Enyimba FC has imposed a 50 per cent pay cut on its players following a surprising 1-0 home defeat to Wikki Tourists in the NPFL matchday 13 clash at Enyimba Stadium, Completesports.com reports.
Abubakar Aliu scored a remarkable long-range goal in the 21st minute, capitalising on goalkeeper Kevin Ogunga’s advanced position outside his penalty area. The loss marks Enyimba’s second home defeat this season, having previously fallen to Warri Wolves.
In reaction, the club’s management suspended the entire coaching staff led by Stanley Eguma. The sanctions extended to the players with the announcement of the significant salary reduction.

Before the defeat, Enyimba stood eighth on the league table but dropped to 11th following the loss. A player, speaking anonymously, revealed the players’ frustration, stating, “They’ve placed us on half salary. The same management that have not paid us a single match bonus since the season started are now cutting our salaries by half.”
Enyimba now face Katsina United in Jos this weekend under interim coach Lawrence Ukaegbu as they seek to halt their recent poor run.
