Finidi reacts as Rivers United edge Kun Khalifat in six-goal thriller

Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George, has admitted his side nearly paid for missed chances despite a 4-2 victory over Kun Khalifat FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Port Harcourt club returned to the top of the table after an entertaining win at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.

Iyowuna Douglas scored twice for Rivers United, while Aniekeme Okon and Handsome Surveyor added the other goals. Sunday Adehi netted a brace for the visitors.

Finidi acknowledged his team’s wastefulness in front of goal, particularly in the early stages of the game.

“In the opening minutes of the game, we had a couple of chances that we didn’t take. You know when you have chances like this you have to score,” he said after the match.

The former international stressed the importance of efficiency in attack, warning that missed opportunities can make games more difficult.

“I can’t do the job myself, we often talk about scoring goals. You have to create chances for you to score, and when you create chances without scoring, it becomes difficult.”
