Super Eagles striker, Victor Okoh Boniface, born on December 23, 2000, is plus one today. He plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. Boniface recently joined Leverkusen after successful stints with Union Saint-Gilloise and Bodø/Glimt.
The 23-year-old outstanding performance has earned him 10 goals in 16 appearances for the Black and Reds this season.
Boniface joined Bodø/Glimt from Real Sapphire on March 4, 2019. Unfortunately, he got injured shortly after joining and had to sit out most of the 2019 season. Although he had to withdraw from the Nigeria U-20 squad due to the injury, he still managed to make his league debut for the club in September 2019.
On August 8, 2022, Boniface sealed a four-year deal with Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium. Union had an impressive run in the 2022-23 Europa League, making it to the quarter-finals. Boniface shined in the competition, scoring six goals, including a double against Union Berlin in the round of 16. This achievement made him the joint top scorer alongside Marcus Rashford.
On July 22, 2023, Boniface officially joined Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. He signed a contract until 2028 and was given the number 22 jersey. Boniface had an impressive Bundesliga debut on August 19, starting in a thrilling 3-2 home victory against RB Leipzig. Just a week later, on August 26, he showcased his skills by scoring his first Bundesliga goals, netting a fantastic brace in a 3-0 away derby win against Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia Park.
Boniface had his first appearance for the Super Eagles on September 10, 2023. He came off the bench in the 64th minute, replacing Taiwo Awoniyi. In that match, Boniface made a significant contribution by providing an assist to Samuel Chukwueze who scored the sixth goal for Nigeria in the 6-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe. Happy Birthday Victor Okoh Boniface! Cheers to your new age.
