Kano Pillars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has credited his side's preparation and tactical adjustments for their 4-1 victory over Doma United in Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 Euromatch-NPFL season.
Pillars took a 2-0 lead through Abdullahi Musa and Rabiu Ali before Doma United reduced the deficit through Sadiq Rilwan in the 53rd minute.
The goal shifted the momentum in favour of the visitors, forcing Ogunmodede to make changes in midfield and attack.
"We expected a tough game because they have gone three matches unbeaten with nine points and never conceded, but we prepared very well for them," Ogunmodede said.
"Not playing last weekend gave us an ample opportunity to prepare more for them and no doubt, you could see they gave us a tough time."
The coach explained that his team initially focused on building a two-goal advantage before Doma's second-half response created pressure.
"We played to our strength. We tried to get two goals in the first half," he said.
"The goal we conceded after the second half created a lot of pressure for us, which was why we brought in fresh faces in the midfield and attack to stop their centre-backs from taking the ball forward."
The changes helped Pillars regain control, with captain Ahmed Musa scoring in the 77th minute before substitute Nasiru Salihu completed the scoring late in the game.
The victory moved Kano Pillars to seven points from three matches, with a game in hand.
Pillars will next travel to Lagos to face Inter Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Wednesday.
