The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has introduced communication gadgets for referees to enhance the officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). This initiative marks a significant step towards modernizing the sport in the country. The official launch of these gadgets took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium during the 2024/2025 NPFL season opener, featuring a match between Rangers International and El-Kanemi Warriors.
The implementation of these communication tools is part of a broader effort by the NFF to improve refereeing standards. Ibrahim Gusau, the NFF President, had previously announced this upgrade at a pre-season seminar in Abuja, highlighting the federation’s commitment to integrating advanced technical equipment into Nigerian football.
This move is expected to facilitate better coordination among match officials and improve decision-making on the field. By embracing these modern technologies, the NFF aims to elevate the quality of refereeing and contribute to a more professional and efficient management of games in the NPFL.
