The Rivers State government has announced plans to renovate several major sports facilities in the state, including the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Yakubu Gowon Stadium, and Alfred Diette Spiff Sports Complex.
Rivers State Sports Commissioner, Barr. Christopher Green, revealed the initiative, emphasizing the government's commitment to improving sports infrastructure.
"The Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium will undergo massive renovation," Green stated, adding that the facility is being prepared to host football games sanctioned by CAF and FIFA.
He also highlighted plans for the Yakubu Gowon Stadium and the Alfred Diette Spiff Civic Centre, stressing that both will receive significant upgrades.
Additionally, other sports facilities, including the Basketball Stadium, are slated for renovation as part of the comprehensive overhaul.
This initiative underscores Rivers State's dedication to fostering sports development and attracting international events.
