Bendel Insurance FC Board Dissolved as Edo Government Appoints New Chairman

In a move aimed at revamping the structure of Bendel Insurance Football Club, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has announced the immediate dissolution of the club’s board.

The announcement, made through a statement by his Media Officer, Edoko Wilson Edoko, confirmed the appointment of Emperor Jarret Tenebe as the new Chairman of Bendel Insurance FC. He replaces Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, who was recently named Director General of the National Institute for Sports (NIS) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Hon. Enabulele described the decision as part of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo’s broader vision to transform Edo’s sports sector and elevate the performance of the state’s flagship football club ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

“Bendel Insurance finished fifth last season. With Emperor Tenebe’s extensive background in football management, we are confident he will lead the club to greater heights,” Enabulele said.

He further emphasised that the restructuring forms part of a wider initiative to harness sports for youth empowerment and development across the state.

Emperor Tenebe, who is also the Edo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed gratitude for the appointment and assured supporters of his commitment to sustaining the club’s progress.

“I thank the Chairman of the Sports Commission for the trust. We will build on the foundation laid and strive for continued excellence,” he stated.

An official unveiling ceremony for Emperor Tenebe as the new Chairman is scheduled for next week. Further details will be made available in due course.
