Bendel Insurance Football Club chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe, has assured players and officials of better welfare as the team intensifies preparations for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Tenebe gave the assurance during an unscheduled visit to the team on Friday, following their emphatic 5-0 victory over FC Rolly of Benin in a preseason friendly. He was accompanied by the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon Amadin Desmond Enabulele.
The chairman stated that his long-term vision is to make Bendel Insurance a consistent contender in continental competitions while also increasing the market value of the players. He pledged better treatment and urged the squad to remain focused and deliver results.
“I congratulate all of you for the efforts and progress you have made so far to ensure we are where we are today,” Tenebe said. “As we prepare for another season, I want to assure you that we are ready to give you all the support and necessary encouragement you need to succeed. We have hope of reaching new heights this season and we will not relent.”
He also noted that Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has revived Edo Transport Line and emphasised that the sports sector will continue to receive support to take Bendel Insurance to an enviable level. “We know you deserve good accommodations, new vehicles and other incentives to boost your morale. When morale is high, you can expect good results,” he added.
Tenebe further challenged the team to aim for the league title, promising handsome rewards if they succeed.
In response, Head Coach Greg Ikhenoba expressed appreciation on behalf of the players and technical crew. “We really appreciate your coming. We know you as a man who keeps his promises. Last season you showed us love and even motivated us with $3000 winning prizes. We assure you of our loyalty and dedication to the progress of Bendel Insurance FC,” he told Bendel Insurance club media.
The Benin Arsenals have been in closed camping since Wednesday as they continue their final selection and bonding sessions. Ikhenoba revealed that the team has lined up several Grade A preseason friendlies, including participation in the upcoming Bayelsa Preseason Football Tournament, as part of their preparations for the new campaign.
