Nigeria’s U20 side, the Flying Eagles, booked their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U20 Championship with a commanding 4-1 win over Benin Republic on Sunday.

The Baby Cheetahs opened scoring in the 23rd minute through Junior Olugbade’s well-taken free kick from the edge of the box at the Prampram Technical Centre. Nigeria responded swiftly, with Abdullahi Abiodun Muhammed finishing from close range after a fine assist by Divine Oliseh.

Ezekiel Anthony Kpangu gave Nigeria the lead just three minutes into the second half, before Imrana Muhammad extended the advantage in the 87th minute, finishing off a quick counter-attack involving Kamaldeen Abduljelil.

Abduljelil Mustapha capped off the dominant performance in stoppage time, firing in from the edge of the area to beat goalkeeper Abdoul Aziz Rahman once again.

Odinaka Emmanuel Okoro was named Man of the Match after a standout performance that helped Nigeria take control of the match from start to finish.

With the result, Nigeria top Group A with four points and await the outcome of Wednesday’s clash between Ghana and Benin Republic to determine their semi-final opponent in the seven-nation tournament.
