The Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has gifted a giant cow to Kwara United Football Club in celebration of their historic victory in the 2025 President Federation Cup.
During a reception held at his palace on Tuesday, the Emir praised the team’s determination, discipline, and resilience throughout the tournament. He encouraged the players to build on the success and remain focused ahead of future campaigns in the FA Cup and the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“All eyes are now on you. You are the cynosure of Kwara State following this triumph, which has eluded us since the creation of the state,” the Emir remarked.
He further urged the players to emulate the legacy of the late Rashidi Yekini, Nigeria’s all-time top scorer and a proud son of Kwara, whose commitment to football continues to inspire.
The Emir dedicated the club’s success to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, applauding the state government’s consistent support and resources that fuelled the team's journey to victory.
The Kwara United delegation was led by Mallam Bola Mogaji, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission. He was joined by Club Chairman Mr. Kumbi Titiloye, General Manager Mallam Bashir Badawiy, Club Secretary Mr. Wale Obalola, and other top officials.
Kwara United's Federation Cup triumph ends a 49-year wait for silverware and has ignited renewed hope for football in Kwara State.
