ASFAR Women reclaimed their place at the summit of African women’s football with a 2–1 victory over ASEC Mimosas in the CAF Women’s Champions League final at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium.
The Moroccan side responded brilliantly after last year’s painful defeat to TP Mazembe in Rabat. Their organised and disciplined display secured their second continental crown, putting them level with Mamelodi Sundowns as the competition’s most successful club with two titles each.
ASFAR made a bright start and opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Ait El Haj finished with precision. ASEC Mimosas, playing in the tournament and its final for the first time, settled quickly and grew into the game.
The Ivorians were rewarded for their improvement after the break when they equalised. Their performance suggested a very promising future for women’s football in Côte d’Ivoire.
ASFAR regained control late on after Diara conceded a penalty with a reckless challenge. Defender Zineb Redouani stepped up and struck a low effort into the net, securing both the title and the Woman of the Match award.
ASEC pushed hard for another goal in the closing minutes, but ASFAR shifted into a solid defensive shape with five defenders and two holding midfielders to protect their lead.
The triumph also guarantees ASFAR a place in the play-offs for the 2026 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, further cementing Morocco’s growing influence and sustained investment in the women’s game.
