MC Alger Coach Rulani Mokwena Reflects on Tough 2-1 Defeat to Al Hilal in CAF Champions League Group Stage Opener

Al Hilal claimed a narrow 2-1 victory over MC Alger in their opening CAF Champions League group stage match on Tuesday.

The Sudanese side made a perfect start to their campaign, holding firm against a determined MC Alger. The Algerian team pushed hard throughout the match, but Al Hilal’s resilience, especially in defence, helped them secure all three points.

MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena reflected on the tough encounter after the match. “It was a difficult game and we expected this challenge. We were solid defensively in the first half. It’s unfortunate how we conceded, but I am proud of how my players responded in the second half,” he said.

Mokwena also added: “We take our first defeat of the season, but we still have five more games to go.”

Al Hilal’s hard-fought win sends a strong message as the group stage begins, setting the tone for what promises to be a competitive campaign.
