Rivers United have departed Nigeria for Cairo as they gear up for their CAF Champions League Matchday One meeting with defending champions Pyramids FC.
The Pride of Rivers arrived in Lagos on Tuesday from Port Harcourt before proceeding to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport for their flight to Egypt. The trip signals the final phase of preparations for their long-awaited group-stage debut.
The fixture will be played on Saturday at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, where Stanley Eguma’s side will attempt to make a strong impression against one of North Africa’s toughest opponents.
After the clash in Cairo, the Nigerians will return home to face Moroccan giants RS Berkane on Friday, 28 November, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Rivers United aim to navigate the group successfully as they push for continental glory and look to cement their status among Africa’s top clubs.
