Questions have emerged over the international future of Nigerian forward Chioma Okafor following her struggles to break into the Super Falcons squad.
According to FIFA regulations, a player may change national allegiance if they:
- Have played no more than three senior competitive matches before turning 21.
- Have not featured in a major finals match, such as the World Cup or a continental tournament.
- Meet all other eligibility requirements for the new nation.
However, once a player exceeds these limits or is above 21, switching becomes impossible.
Okafor, who previously opted to represent Nigeria over Malawi, has found herself sidelined from the Super Falcons’ plans. With Malawi recently qualifying for the WAFCON for the first time in history, speculation is growing that she might consider a switch back to the Southern African nation—if FIFA rules allow it.
