NPFL Retains Four CAF Slots for 2026/27 Season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially retained its four slots in CAF club competitions for the 2026/27 season following RS Berkane’s triumph over Al Ahly Tripoli.

This development means Nigerian clubs will continue to enjoy two slots in the CAF Champions League and two in the CAF Confederation Cup.

According to the CAF ranking outcome, the NPFL maintains its strong standing among Africa’s top leagues, ensuring that:
  • League Champions – CAF Champions League
  • League Runners-up – CAF Champions League
  • Third-placed team – CAF Confederation Cup
  • FA Cup winners – CAF Confederation Cup
This is a significant boost for Nigerian football, providing more opportunities for clubs to compete at the continental level and further enhance the country’s reputation in African football.
