The Nigeria Football Federation has taken a significant step towards strengthening transparency and accountability as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on Wednesday inaugurated the newly appointed members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit.
NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, MON, welcomed the development, noting that the collaboration with the ICPC has helped the Federation improve its processes and record-keeping. He urged stakeholders to understand the role of ACTU in ensuring compliance and preventing future investigations or indictments. Sanusi gave assurances of the Federation’s full cooperation with the unit.
ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, expressed appreciation to the NFF leadership and staff for their support in ensuring a smooth inauguration. He described the event as a key step in preparing the new ACTU members for their responsibilities and aligning with the vision of building a sustainable football culture capable of placing Nigeria among global football powers.
Dr Aliyu congratulated the newly inducted team, charging them to uphold diligence, integrity and professionalism. He urged them to avoid actions that could compromise their strategic role and reaffirmed his gratitude to the NFF for its commitment to the process.
The new ACTU Chairperson, Barrister Queen Otarakpo, thanked the NFF General Secretary and acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing committee. She assured the Federation of the team’s dedication to carrying out its duties responsibly and requested continuous support from the NFF management.
The newly appointed ACTU members are:
Mrs Queen Otarakpo Esq (Chairperson), Mallam Abdulrasheed Usman, Mallam Yakubu Abdumalik, Miss Ann Okoro, Hajiya Amina Daura, Mr Tasiu Riskuwa Shehu and Mr Ahmed Yusuf.
The inauguration was attended by officials of both ICPC and the NFF, including Mr Olusegun Adigun, Mrs Nkem Ezenwa, Mr Danladi Danjuma, Abdurahman Maigari, Ms Ruth David, Mr Rajan Zaka, Mr Kut Kut Fon, Mr Barnabas Joro, Mr Sunday Iduh, Coach Abdulrafiu Yusuf and Mrs Faith Ben-Anuge.
