Red-Hot Kwara United Keep Fire Burning with Dominant Win Over Remo Stars

Kwara United continued their strong run in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with a convincing 3–1 victory over Remo Stars on Saturday in a Matchday 11 clash.

The Harmony Boys displayed confidence and control from the start, setting the tone with an attacking approach that kept the visitors under constant pressure. Despite a few threatening moments from Remo Stars, the home side remained composed and purposeful.

Junior Aimufua opened the scoring in the 30th minute, finishing from close range after Arinze Ogbonna’s header connected with Seun Ogunribide’s long throw. The goal lifted the atmosphere at the stadium as Kwara United headed into the break with a 1–0 lead.

An early injury to Akanni Akeem forced head coach Ashifat Suleiman to bring on Mohammed Alao, but the setback did little to disrupt the team’s rhythm.

Kwara United extended their lead in the second half through Babatunde Bright, who curled in a superb free kick from the edge of the box in the 75th minute. Aimufua later sealed his brace in the 87th minute, calmly slotting past the goalkeeper to make it 3–0. Jabbar Malik netted a late consolation for Remo Stars in the 90th minute.

Speaking after the match, Coach Suleiman praised his players for their discipline and organisation, describing the win as a reward for hard work. He dedicated the victory to the SWAN Diamond Jubilee Anniversary awardees, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Club Chairman Kumbi Titiloye and veteran sports broadcaster Hammed Adio.

He added that the result will serve as a major morale boost ahead of their next two away fixtures in Matchdays 12 and 13.

The win lifts Kwara United to fifth place on the NPFL table with 16 points from 11 matches. Junior Aimufua was deservedly named the Cyteck Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
