Enyimba striker Daniel Okere has declared that the People's Elephant are determined to secure maximum points when they face Warri Wolves in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday 29 clash in Ozoro.
The eight time Nigerian champions will take on the Seasiders at the Southern Delta University Stadium as both sides aim to improve their positions on the league table.
Okere spoke to Enyimba Media shortly after the team arrived in Ozoro and expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness for the encounter.
The forward said the team has already put behind them last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Kun Khalifat FC in Aba and is fully focused on the task ahead.
“We are here in Ozoro to face Warri Wolves on Sunday and we are ready for the encounter,” Okere said.
“The players are mentally and psychologically prepared for the match. Unfortunately, we could not get the maximum points against Kun Khalifat FC in Aba last Sunday, but we have shifted our attention to the match in Ozoro for the points.”
The former Abia Warriors and Abia Comets striker also called on the club’s supporters to continue backing the team.
“We ask for the fans’ support and patience. This is Enyimba and we will fight for the maximum points on Sunday, and we believe we can get it right.”
Meetings between Warri Wolves and Enyimba have traditionally been closely contested. Both teams have faced each other 19 times, with Warri Wolves recording five wins while Enyimba have six victories. Eight matches have ended in draws.
Meanwhile, Enyimba coach Emmanuel Deutsch Gustavo is expected to welcome back defender Agu Samuel, who has scored two goals this season.
New signings Umoh Hogan and Idris Abubakar are also available for selection as the Aba giants look to secure a positive result away from home.
