Joseph Eno Rallies Akwa United Players Before Key Sporting Lagos Showdown

Akwa United chairman Joseph Eno has urged the team to stay focused ahead of their crucial Nigeria National League Matchday 14 clash against Sporting Lagos.

The Promise Keepers will host Sporting Lagos on Sunday at the Uyo Township Stadium in a top-of-the-table encounter that could have a major impact on the promotion race.

Speaking to the players before the match, Eno emphasised the importance of maintaining concentration as the team pushes for a return to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

“We have come a long way after thirteen games, and we must not lose focus, especially in this big match against our closest challengers,” Eno said. “This is a very important game, and I expect you to stay focused and determined to secure the victory.”

Akwa United currently lead Conference B with 25 points, just one point ahead of Sporting Lagos, making the fixture a decisive moment in the race for the sole promotion ticket.

Eno noted that a positive result would strengthen the club’s promotion ambitions.

“A win will be a huge boost to our push for promotion. I want you to show confidence, teamwork, and the winning mentality that has brought us this far,” he added.

The chairman also commended the club’s supporters for their backing throughout the campaign and called on them to turn out in large numbers for the game.

“The fans have been fantastic, and that has reflected in our unbeaten home record. We call on our fans to turn out once again to cheer the boys to victory on Sunday,” he said.

Head coach Paul Offor, who has won the NNL Coach of the Month award for three consecutive months, has a full squad available for selection ahead of the encounter. The players have trained with confidence during the week as preparations intensified for the clash.

Kick-off at the Uyo Township Stadium is scheduled for 3pm.
