Enyimba chairman, FIFA Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo, has assured the club’s players of his support and prioritised welfare ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Kanu addressed the players at the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday following Enyimba’s goalless draw with Akwa United in a pre-season friendly.
The match was part of Enyimba’s preparations for the new NPFL campaign, with Kanu continuing to play an active role in the team’s pre-season activities. The former Nigeria captain has been present during the club’s preparations in Aba, Port Harcourt, Warri and Uyo.
Kanu urged the players to represent Enyimba well and deliver results, stressing the high expectations surrounding the nine-time NPFL champions.
“The club is big, the players must be big and the result must be big as well. The sweetest thing in Enyimba is result,” Kanu told the players.
The chairman also assured the squad that their welfare would be prioritised, promising that everything due to the players would reach them on time.
Enyimba will open their 2026/27 NPFL campaign away to Niger Tornadoes in Minna before hosting Shooting Stars in their first home fixture.
The People’s Elephants will be aiming to win a record-extending 10th league title this season.
