Baba Ganaru Urges Akwa United to Improve Finishing for a Stronger Season

Akwa United's technical adviser, Muhammad Baba Ganaru, has shared his thoughts on what the team must improve to have a successful season after their 1-1 home draw against Abia Warriors. Ezekiel Edidiong’s late penalty salvaged a point for the Promise Keepers, but Ganaru expressed disappointment in the overall performance. “It was a bad outing for us, and the result was not what we expected,” he said, noting that although the team dominated the game, they struggled to convert their chances.

Abia Warriors scored early, and despite Akwa United's efforts to equalize, it wasn’t until the final moments of the game that they managed to secure a penalty, which Edidiong successfully converted. Ganaru acknowledged that the team played well but emphasized that failing to capitalize on numerous opportunities was the major setback. He praised the Warriors' defensive discipline, which made it difficult for Akwa United to find the back of the net earlier.

Looking ahead, Ganaru stressed the need for urgency as the season progresses. With just two points from their first two games, he emphasized the importance of working on their scoring abilities and increasing their efforts in upcoming matches. He believes that immediate improvement is necessary if Akwa United hopes to contend for a better position this season.
