The Super Eagles of Nigeria have climbed three spots in the latest FIFA rankings, thanks to their strong performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. The Nigerian team secured a 1-0 victory against Libya's Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, which significantly boosted their standing.
Although the second leg of the qualifiers is yet to be played, Nigeria retained their position as the leader of their group. The win against Libya contributed to their upward movement in the rankings, placing them 36th in the world, an improvement from their previous 39th position.
In Africa, Nigeria is now ranked 4th, sitting behind Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt. This places the Super Eagles among the continent's top football teams as they continue their quest for AFCON glory.
