Rivers United FC defensive midfielder, Osimaga Duke, has expressed confidence that the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title will be heading to Rivers State. Duke made this bold declaration following his team’s recent 1-0 away victory against Niger Tornadoes, which extended their unbeaten run to eight matches.
Speaking after the match, Duke highlighted the team’s strong form and determination to maintain their position at the top of the league. He credited their success to the tactical approach led by head coach Finidi George. According to Duke, the combination of tactical discipline and teamwork has been key to their performance both at home and on the road.
"I know by the special grace of God, we are going to win the league because the tactics we are using in our home and away games are quite different. The players are ready to play. We have to do our best," Duke stated. His comments reflect the team's unity and dedication to executing the coach's game plan.
The midfielder also acknowledged the efforts of the club's management in providing the necessary support to ensure the team remains competitive. He emphasized that the players are fully committed to following Finidi George’s instructions and are determined to make their fans proud by bringing the title to Rivers State.
With the NPFL season underway, Rivers United has positioned itself as one of the top contenders for the title, and Osimaga Duke’s confidence is a reflection of the team's belief in their ability to go all the way.
