Flamingos Begin Preparation for WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup in Ghana



Head Coach Bankole Olowookere has invited 25 players to the camp of Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, as they prepare for the WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup scheduled to take place in Ghana from December 12th to 26th, 2024.

The squad features several standout performers, including midfielder Shakirat Moshood, who netted four goals in the previous tournament. Other notable call-ups include first-choice goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma, defenders Taiwo Adegoke, Jumai Adebayo, and Prisca Nwachukwu, as well as forward Harmony Chidi and Peace Effiong.



The Flamingos are placed in Group B of the six-team competition, alongside Cote d’Ivoire and Niger Republic. Host nation Ghana is grouped with Burkina Faso and Benin Republic in Group A.

All invited players are to report to camp at the Remo Stars Sports Institute, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024. The camp will serve as a platform for fine-tuning tactics and building team cohesion ahead of the tournament.

The full roster includes goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards from top clubs across Nigeria. This well-balanced squad will aim to deliver an impressive performance as they represent the nation in Ghana.
