Ikorodu City Captain Urges Team to Stay Grounded Amid Impressive Form

Ikorodu City captain, Waliu Ojetoye, has called on his teammates to remain focused and not be carried away by their recent impressive performances in the NPFL. The Oga Boys extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a commanding 4-1 victory over Akwa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos last weekend.

Ojetoye stressed the importance of maintaining discipline and hard work as the season progresses. “We should not lose our head following the recent impressive run of form in the league,” the captain remarked in a post-match interview. He emphasized the need for sustained focus to ensure consistent results in the coming matches.

The skipper also highlighted the stiff competition in the league, urging his team to remain vigilant. “We need more concentration and keep up with the momentum because there are still some teams at the top and some who are also aspiring to reach the top,” Ojetoye said. He made it clear that while the team’s performance has been commendable, there is still a long way to go in the season.

Ojetoye further cautioned that Ikorodu City has not yet “arrived,” emphasizing that more effort is required to achieve their goals. His comments reflect the team's grounded approach, even as they climb to third position on the NPFL table.

Ikorodu City will face another test this weekend in an away fixture against Bayelsa United. The captain’s call for focus will be crucial as the team aims to extend their unbeaten streak and solidify their position in the league standings.
