Edidiong’s Penalty Earns GAUFC a Crucial Win Over Osun United

Godswill Akpabio United FC (GAUFC) secured their second win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Osun United at the Uyo Township Stadium in an NNL25 Matchday 7 fixture.

The decisive moment came in the 76th minute when GAUFC captain Adrian Edidiong calmly converted a penalty after Osun United defender Kunle Ashiru committed a foul in the box.

Despite dominating possession and creating chances in the first half, GAUFC struggled to find the finishing touch. Austin Agbowo and Samuel Jackson came close with headers in the 26th and 36th minutes but were off-target by inches.

In the second half, GAUFC thought they had taken the lead in the 62nd minute when Austin Agbowo headed in a cross from Ogunjobi, but the effort was ruled offside.

Osun United, with 13 points after seven games, pushed for an equalizer but were unable to breach GAUFC's solid defense led by Edidiong and Abraham.

The victory moved GAUFC to 6th place on the league table with eight points, while Osun United remain on 13 points with a record of four wins, two losses, and one draw.
