Flying Eagles Edge Egypt in U-20 AFCON Warm-Up Friendly

Nigeria’s U-20 Flying Eagles secured a 2-1 victory over the Egyptian Young Pharaohs in a friendly match ahead of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Kparobo Arierhi gave Nigeria the lead in the 10th minute after connecting with a precise pass from Bidemi Amole. Egypt drew level in the 65th minute through Ahmed Kaabaka, but Nigeria sealed the win seven minutes from time. Precious Benjamin converted a penalty after Divine Oliseh was brought down in the box.

The win boosts morale for the seven-time champions as they prepare for their opening Group B clash against Tunisia next Thursday. They will also face Morocco and Kenya in the group stage.

Hosts Egypt, placed in Group A, begin their campaign against South Africa on Sunday, followed by fixtures against Sierra Leone, Zambia, and Tanzania.

The 17th edition of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations kicks off this Sunday in Cairo.
