The former Bendel Insurance and Super Eagles goalkeeper set the benchmark during the 2023/24 season, when he kept 18 clean sheets in 35 appearances — a feat that proved crucial to his club’s impressive defensive performance.
As the current campaign draws to a close, several goalkeepers have come close but fallen just short. Shooting Stars' Mustapha Lawal leads the clean sheet chart this season with 16 shutouts, needing two more to match the record — an impossible task with only one game left to play.
Hot on his heels are Rangers’ Jimoh Lucky, Remo Stars’ Serge Obasa, and Rivers United’s Osagie Onisodumeya, all tied on 15 clean sheets. Kwara United’s Nurudeen Badmus follows closely with 14.
Despite their strong seasons, none of these shot-stoppers will be able to equal or break Obasogie’s record this term.
As it stands, Amas Obasogie’s achievement remains the gold standard for goalkeepers in the NPFL — a legacy that lives on into another season.
