Heartland Football Club has issued a formal apology to the Imo State Government, football stakeholders, and supporters following the team’s relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
In a press statement released after the final day of the season, the club’s management, players, and coaches expressed deep regret over the outcome, admitting that their efforts were not enough to keep the team in the top flight.
“We apologize to Governor Hope Uzodimma, Imo football stakeholders, and our esteemed fans for failing to maintain the status of our darling club in the Nigerian top flight,” the statement read.
Despite acknowledging the support received from Imo State officials, including the Sports Commissioner, Honourable Obinna Onyeocha, and the Imo FA led by Barrister Ifeanyi Dike, the club admitted that the result fell short of expectations. “People deserved better,” the club noted.
Heartland FC emphasized its commitment to rebuilding, vowing to learn from past mistakes and return stronger. The club assured fans of renewed efforts to bring back success and restore pride to Imolites.
“We pledge our total commitment and dedication to rejig our club and return smiles to the faces of Imolites Fans and our beloved supporters,” the club concluded.
