Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi have sealed their place in the 2025 NNL Super Eight Playoffs with a commanding 4-1 victory over Zamfara United on the final matchday of the Northern Conference C.
The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium roared with excitement as the Tourists delivered a masterclass performance. Jonathan Mairiga opened the scoring in the 14th minute after a precise assist from Wonderson Yakubu, then doubled the lead just eight minutes later with another clinical finish.
Wikki maintained their dominance, and in the 38th minute, a swift combination involving Klingshak, Wonderson, and Mairiga set up Nentaka Bangs for the third goal, wrapping up a brilliant first half.
Mairiga completed his hat-trick in the 52nd minute, pushing the game firmly out of Zamfara’s reach. The visitors pulled one back through an own goal in the 89th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation.
With 23 points from 12 games, Wikki finished top of Conference C and advanced to the highly anticipated Super Eight.
Head Coach Abdu Maikaba, speaking after the game, reflected on the team’s mission and progress.
“When I arrived, the goal was clear — qualify for the Super Eight and bring Wikki Tourists back to the Premier League. Alhamdulillah, we are on the right path. With the caliber of players in our squad and continued support, I believe we will achieve promotion,” Maikaba said.
He also extended appreciation to the Bauchi State Government, the club’s management, and the supporters for their unwavering backing.
With Conference C concluded, the focus now shifts to Conferences A and B, expected to finish in the coming weeks, after which the NNL will announce the schedule for the Super Eight Playoffs.
