Wikki Tourists returned to the summit of Conference C in the ongoing NNL25 season with a dominant 3-1 victory over Mighty Jets at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
The standout performer of the evening was Wonderson Yakubu, who netted a sensational hat-trick in what was only his major appearance of the season.
Yakubu opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a composed finish, before doubling the lead five minutes before halftime with a precise strike into the bottom corner. Wikki Tourists went into the break 2-0 up, firmly in control of the game.
Coach Abdu Maikaba’s tactical changes in the second half further tightened the grip, and in the 76th minute, Yakubu sealed his treble with a superb header off a pinpoint long ball from Bismark Duah.
Mighty Jets pulled one back in the 86th minute through Ironsi Nickson, but it was too little, too late.
Speaking after the match, Coach Maikaba praised his team’s effort and the home support:
"This is a great result and a morale booster for our promotion campaign. The boys showed character, and I’m especially proud of the fans—they’ve been outstanding."
The victory takes Wikki Tourists to 20 points from 10 matches, two points clear at the top with just two games left. They face Barau FC next in a key away clash as the promotion race heats up.
