Ikorodu City FC have officially announced the appointment of Ali Kandil as their new head coach following the departure of Nurudeen Aweroro to Shooting Stars SC.
Kandil, a former Türkiye international, had served as assistant to Aweroro since 2024. His promotion comes as the Lagos-based club looks to maintain stability and build on recent progress. Club sources confirmed that Aweroro had considered taking Kandil along to Ibadan, but distance and personal preferences meant that the Turkish tactician will remain with Ikorodu City.

In the restructuring, Bright Ozebagbe will take on the role of technical adviser, while Kandil will handle the direct responsibilities of head coach. The club clarified that both positions are distinct, with Ozebagbe focusing on broader technical planning and support.
Kandil’s appointment marks a significant step in Ikorodu City’s preparations for the upcoming season as they aim to strengthen their squad and challenge for higher honours.
