Sporting Lagos Academy have progressed to the Round of 16 at the ongoing Gothia Cup, maintaining their unbeaten record in the group stage.
The defending champions began their title defence with a convincing 3-1 win over Mjällby AIF. They were then held to a goalless draw by Qarabag FK in a tightly contested match, before sealing their place in the knockout round with a 2-1 victory over IFK Göteborg.
Across the three matches, Sporting Lagos Academy scored five goals, conceded two, and finished the group stage with two wins and one draw.
The Lagos-based side will be aiming to continue their impressive form as they push for back-to-back titles in one of the world’s most prestigious youth football tournaments.
