Nine-time champions Nigeria will use Sunday’s final Group B encounter against Algeria as preparation for their quarter-final tie at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
With the Super Falcons already through to the next round, Head Coach Justine Madugu is focused on fine-tuning tactics ahead of a likely showdown with hosts Morocco or Zambia, while Senegal remain an outside possibility depending on final Group A results.
“Our commitment has been to take it one game at a time,” Madugu said. “We believe in our approach and we will adopt the tactics, pattern and approach that we believe can give us victory in each game. We respect all the teams but fear none.”
Algeria, who defeated Botswana 1-0 on Matchday 1 and drew with Tunisia, sit two points behind Nigeria and are also in the race for a quarter-final spot. A result against the Falcons could pitch them against any of the Group C contenders, including defending champions South Africa, Mali, Tanzania or Ghana.
Sunday’s match will be played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
