WAFCON 2024: Madugu Promises Better Super Falcons Display Against Zambia

Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has pledged a stronger performance from his team when they face Zambia in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Nigeria secured top spot in Group B despite a goalless draw in their final group match, setting up a decisive knockout tie with the Shepolopolo of Zambia.

Speaking after the final group stage game, Madugu acknowledged the team’s underwhelming display and issued an apology to supporters.

“I want to apologise to our dear countrymen and women. I understand the expectations. Nigerians always want victory. We did everything possible to win, but it didn’t work out as planned. However, we promise to improve in the games ahead,” Madugu said.

The Super Falcons will look to build on their unbeaten run as they seek a semi-final place in the continental tournament.
