Governor Diri Urges Bayelsa United to Clinch NPFL Glory

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has challenged Bayelsa United to aim for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title in the 2025/26 season and secure a continental ticket.

Speaking on Sunday after watching the club’s first home match at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, where they defeated Barau FC 2-0, the Governor expressed delight at the team’s bright start to the campaign.

Governor Diri praised the players for their away victory over Shooting Stars in Ibadan and their convincing home win, describing the performances as a sign of greater things to come.

As a show of support, he announced a two million naira reward for the players and coaching crew for their impressive display and promised to provide the team with a brand-new coaster bus if they continue to make the state proud.

The Governor also expressed confidence in newly appointed head coach Monday Odigie, directing that his appointment be formalised immediately. He noted that Odigie’s experience would be instrumental in achieving the club’s ambitions for the season.
