The Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State will host the curtain-raiser for the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, as FC Basira of Lafia go head-to-head with Mighty Jets of Jos in a Conference C clash expected to ignite the new campaign.
The venue was selected after McCarthy Stadium in Makurdi was deemed unsuitable to meet facility requirements. The change also means Lobi Stars will no longer host City FC of Abuja in the opening fixture as earlier planned.
Scheduled for Saturday, 8 November 2025, at 3 PM, the encounter is expected to attract a huge turnout from passionate supporters across North Central Nigeria. The tie marks the beginning of another chapter in the NNL, widely regarded as the most important league in Nigerian football.
The league will commence in full swing on 16 November 2025, with the remaining Match Day One fixtures taking place across the country. A total of 382 matches will be played throughout the season.
The winner of the opening match will also make history by claiming the Bet Power Locker Room winning bonus of ₦56,000.
FC Basira, led by experienced tactician Aminu Musa, and Mighty Jets, under the guidance of Ere Dokubo, are both determined to start strong as they chase the coveted promotion ticket in Conference C.
Fans and football enthusiasts are bracing for an exciting showdown as the NNL returns, promising another season filled with passion, rivalry, and unforgettable moments.
