Ranchers Bees Football Club of Kaduna have officially appointed Coach Patrick Bassey as their new head coach ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League (NNL) season. The unveiling ceremony took place on Monday in Kaduna.
The event was attended by notable figures including Club President, Nura Bulala, and Kaduna State Football Association Chairman, Faisal Abdullahi. Both officials expressed confidence that Bassey’s appointment would usher in a new era of success for the historic club.
Coach Bassey, in his remarks, thanked the club’s owner and Super Eagles striker, Sadiq Umar, for the opportunity to lead the team. He pledged to meet the club’s target of securing promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL).
“They’ve given us a target — to promote the team to the NPFL. That is what we are working towards. We want to bring joy back to Kaduna and to the fans of Ranchers Bees, to show that this club has come to stay and will bring glory once again,” he said.
A respected figure in Nigerian domestic football, Bassey brings years of coaching experience across top-tier and grassroots levels. His arrival is viewed as a major statement of intent by Ranchers Bees, as the club aims to re-establish itself among the elite sides in Nigerian football.
Also unveiled at the event was goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, a former national team player. Daniel promised to use his experience to help the team achieve its promotion goals.
“With the vast experience I’ve gathered over the years, it’s a wonderful opportunity to impact the young players and help the team achieve our goal of promotion,” Daniel stated.
Ranchers Bees will compete in Conference D of the 2025/2026 NNL season, facing strong opposition from clubs such as Gombe United, Yobe Desert Stars, and Kebbi United. With Coach Bassey now at the helm, optimism is high that the Kaduna-based club will mount a serious promotion challenge and restore the pride of one of Nigeria’s most storied football institutions.
